Cost:    Free for all members. $25 for non-members.
Loc:      Wood Lake Nature Center, 6710 Lake Shore Drive, Richfield, MN  55423

The In-Person meeting will provide an overview, live demonstration, and questions and answer session of the importance of neuroscience in your coaching practice.

Three objectives that meet ICF CCEU Core Competencies of Coach Specific Training will be covered in this meeting:

Participants will learn how to ask questions that focus forward and invite and support clients in creating their own “ah-ha” moments.   They will learn how to capitalize on the chemicals released during those moments to move clients into action.

Participants will learn the neurological importance of asking permission at various points in the coaching process to reduce the “fight or flight” reaction that can inhibit coaching effectiveness.

Participants will learn the neurological importance of naming and quantifying emotions and why holding the clients’ agenda over time supports brain pathway development and thereby help improve brain functioning.

About ML Rice and Mary Cayan

ML (Mary Lou) Rice is a coach and consultant specializing in leadership. ML coaches leaders in all stages of their careers to help them develop and enhance their leadership presence, paying special
attention to the impact they want to create within their sphere of influence.

Allowing leaders to build on their strengths, ML uses a mix of direct conversation, humor, creativity and wisdom to allow clients to see their true potential as well as the gap between where they are now and where they could be. She has the ability to design strategies and practices so that leaders build awareness of what they need to change and observation skills to begin to notice their own patterns and habits. A signature of ML’s coaching style is posing gentle, thoughtful and intuitive questions that get to “the heart of the matter.” These questions help executives clarify their own thinking, thus allowing space for insights to surface.

ML is the owner and principal of RiceWorks Leadership Consulting. She holds an M.A. in Organizational Leadership and brings 20 years of public sector leadership and management to her current coaching and consulting. She is a certified professional coach through the internationally known Newfield Network, Inc., a graduate of The Coaches Training Institute, and a former Bush Foundation Education Leadership Fellow.
